About
Memory Moments…
Used with permission from Tony
Lopes. Memory Moments is
a service based on our belief that you have a unique and valuable life story. No
one else has experienced the world in quite the same way as you have. No one else has shared in all the
relationships of which you have been a part.
No one else stores the same tapestry of memories as you do. No one else could convey your personal
perspective on life as you can. However,
preparing your memoirs yourself requires much time and effort. It is a daunting, often lonely task,
rarely advancing beyond a good intention. This is the problem 'Memory
Moments' seeks to address. We
aim to take the stress out of producing your autobiography. Using digital video technology we record
you as you outline your history, telling of the people and events that shaped
who you are as a person, and sharing memories and insights gleaned from your
personal experiences over the years. This
takes place in the comfort of your own home, using your own words, at your
own pace, and with full control over the content used in the editing
process. Little preparation is
required from you, as an experienced interviewer helps to draw out your
story. One
'getting to know you' meeting, and three or four recording sessions are
generally sufficient to provide us with adequate footage. We then edit those recordings, minimising
the interviewer's questions and promptings, inserting photos, and making any
other adjustments necessary for the completed video to capture the essence of
who you are. The
end result is a beautifully presented and personalised video; your own
'living portrait'. Multiple copies
can be made for your family and friends, and DVD format is also
available. Indeed,
you may even choose to make your story accessible to the wider
community. Many libraries are now
collecting such recordings as a valuable tool in understanding history and
culture in an interesting and personal way. Sharing your story allows your past to influence the future. Memory Moments is proud to be part of this process. |
